A girl, out for a (really long) run, making her way through the final miles of the Appalachian Trail, on her way to setting the overall record. I had the opportunity to spend 24 hours with Tara and her crew near the very end of the FKT. We were in Western North Carolina, in a section of the mountains I hold especially dearly. I snapped photo and video references as the sun was setting during a long pacing section up and over Cheoah Bald, and this image of Tara running through a rhododendron tunnel really stuck with me.

A mere five days after Tara successfully broke the record, Hurricane Helene struck our beloved Southern Appalachia with shocking force. I had already talked to Tara about the idea of doing this print, and it quickly became apparent that we could leverage my skills as an artist and Tara’s legendary feat to raise money to support hurricane recovery.

These hand-carved, hand-printed original linocuts are now available for order*, and $50 of each $100 print sold will be donated to BeLoved Asheville, who are doing vital on-the-ground recovery work in Asheville and surround mountain communities.

This limited first edition is 200 prints, each numbered, titled and signed.

They'll ship rolled in a rigid cardboard tube. Paper size 14x18", image size 11x14", paper is Thai Kozo (mulberry fiber).

*prints are being actively printed, but each one is printed by hand and takes time plus needs to dry, so please be patient with us :) As payments come through, we will be sending money to BeLoved. Follow @upinthewoods on Instagram for updates about donation amounts being sent!
