This hand-carved, hand-printed linocut is inspired by the experience of running the Black Canyon Ultras, a 100k and 50k footrace on the Black Canyon National Recreation Trail north of Phoenix, Arizona. Runners start in the higher elevation chaparral biome of Mayer, AZ, and gradually descend on winding single track, through the canyons and into the dense saguaro "jungle," dropping in and rising out of seasonal washes and rivers along the way.
This print was created in collaboration with Janji and Aravaipa Running, for a limited edition run of apparel, releasing February 2026 around this year's edition of the race. The colors of the apparel are pulled from a vintage geologic map of the area.
Limited edition of 80 original block prints. 12x16". Ships rolled in a rigid cardboard tube. Hand signed and numbered by the artist.
